A readymade wardrobe from a furniture store is built to generic dimensions and a generic internal configuration. It will be either slightly too wide or slightly too narrow for your wall. Its internal organisation is designed for an average person's average wardrobe — not for the 14 shirts, 6 sarees, 4 suits, and the collection of shoes that actually live in your bedroom. Suntew custom wardrobes begin with an inventory of your actual belongings and end with a wardrobe that stores everything properly, fits your wall perfectly, and looks significantly better than anything you'd find in a showroom.

All Suntew wardrobes use BWR plywood carcasses and Hettich hardware as standard.
The Material Decision That Determines Whether Your Wardrobe Lasts 5 Years or 25
The carcass material — the internal structural frame of the wardrobe — determines 80% of long-term performance. There are two main options offered in Bangalore: MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) and BWR plywood (Boiling Water Resistant plywood).
MDF is homogeneous, takes paint and laminate beautifully, and is significantly cheaper. It is also hygroscopic — it absorbs moisture. In Bangalore's monsoon humidity, the joints of an MDF wardrobe absorb enough moisture to swell visibly, which misaligns hinges, causes drawer runners to stick, and eventually delaminates the door fronts at the edges. This typically begins showing in the third or fourth year and accelerates after that. In Mangalore's coastal climate, it happens faster.
BWR plywood uses a phenolic resin glue between ply layers that resists moisture. It does not swell at joints. It holds screw connections significantly better than MDF — important for hinge mounting points that are stressed thousands of times per year. A BWR plywood wardrobe built well in 2026 looks and functions identically in 2045. Suntew uses BWR plywood for all carcass work on every project.
Hardware — Why It Matters as Much as the Wood
The hinge is the most stressed component in any wardrobe. A single door with 2 hinges is opened and closed 5–10 times per day — roughly 3,000 times per year. After 10 years, that is 30,000 cycles per hinge. A cheap no-brand hinge starts showing visible sag within the first 5,000 cycles. A Hettich or Blum soft-close hinge is guaranteed for 100,000 cycles — more than three times the useful life of the wardrobe itself.
Drawer runners are similarly important. Full-extension soft-close runners give you access to the full depth of the drawer, close gently without slamming, and maintain alignment over thousands of cycles. Partial-extension runners are cheaper and worse in every measurable way.
Wardrobe Configurations for Each Room
Master bedroom: Separate him/her sections wherever space allows. Different hanging lengths (long for dresses and kurtas, short for shirts and trousers), different drawer sizes, and different shelf heights for different folded items. This single configuration decision transforms daily wardrobe use — you stop searching for things immediately.
Second bedroom (guest/children): A balanced mix of long-hanging, short-hanging, and shelves. For children's rooms: adjustable shelf heights that reconfigure as the child grows over the next decade. For guest rooms: sufficient for a 5–7 day stay with variety.
Pantry wardrobe: A tall unit adjacent to the kitchen for dry goods, small appliances, and organised food storage. Suntew integrates pantry units into kitchen designs as standard for all 2BHK+ projects that have the wall space — it dramatically improves kitchen organisation and keeps counters clear.
